About
Louis Chirco, 30 years in tile
Island Tile Craft is Louis Chirco’s company. Lou has been setting tile on Long Island for 30+ years. He walks every job, writes every estimate, and is on site doing the work with his own crew. It doesn’t get handed off to subcontractors.
We stick to what we’re best at: custom showers, shower leak repair, tile floors (including old-school mud-set floors and radiant heat), and kitchen backsplashes. For plumbing and electrical, we’ll recommend licensed pros we’ve worked beside for years and build the tile work around them.
Most of our work is in homes built between 1920 and 1980, from Islip to the Hamptons. We know what’s behind the walls in a postwar split, a North Shore bungalow and a South Shore Victorian, and we price for it before demo day. Out east, we take on bigger projects: full bathrooms, custom showers and whole-house floors.

How we work
How we work
- 01
Lou's own crew
Louis Chirco walks the job and writes the estimate, and his own crew does the work. It isn't handed off. Need a plumber or electrician? We'll recommend licensed pros we've worked beside for years.
- 02
Bonded waterproofing
The pan gets a sloped mortar bed, then a bonded membrane over it, and every seam and corner is sealed. It gets flood tested before any tile goes down.
- 03
Old-school mud work
Floated mortar beds and mud-set pans, done by hand. Most installers never learned it.

You get a number, in writing
A written scope before anyone starts. If something changes once the walls are open, you hear about it that day, and you hear what it costs.
