Tile work in Smithtown
Smithtown was built out fast between the mid-1950s and the mid-1970s, and it shows in almost every bathroom we open. Nesconset, Hauppauge, Kings Park and Commack are full of colonials, splits and ranches from that era with the original 5x5 pastel wall tile, a cast-iron tub set on a mud bed, and one hall bath serving the whole second floor. Those rooms are structurally sound but worn out, and a gut renovation with a properly waterproofed shower is the most common job we do in town.
St. James, Head of the Harbor and Nissequogue are different: older homes near the river and the harbor, some historic, alongside larger newer houses on big lots. There the work leans toward primary suites, natural stone, curbless showers and heated floors. Village of the Branch and the blocks around the Smithtown bull have a mix of both, and shower pans from that first wave of construction are giving out all over town.
