Shower Floor Leak Repair
Find the leak, rebuild the pan and waterproofing, and retile it right.
A shower that leaks into the room below almost never leaks through the tile. It leaks through a failed pan, a cracked liner, an unsealed drain, or a corner that was never waterproofed. Regrouting and caulking buys a few months at best. Fixing it means opening the floor, finding the actual failure, and rebuilding the pan as a system.
We specialize in this repair. We diagnose before we quote. Sometimes the floor alone can be rebuilt; sometimes the walls are gone too, and you'll hear which one you're dealing with before any money changes hands. Where the wall tile can be saved, we save it. Where it can't, we say so up front.
What’s included
- Leak diagnosis and moisture testing
- Shower floor removal and pan rebuild
- New mortar pre-slope, bonded Schluter KERDI membrane and drain
- Curb and corner waterproofing
- Flood test before tile
- Retile to match, or a fresh new floor
- Ceiling and subfloor damage assessment
What we find
What's usually under a leaking shower
A failed shower pan opened up: water tracking through the old membrane, rot in the framing underneath.
By the time a stain shows up on the ceiling below, the water has been getting past the tile for a long time. The fix is opening the floor, finding the failure, and rebuilding the pan as a system.
Questions
Shower Floor Leak Repair FAQ
- Can you fix a leaking shower without redoing the whole bathroom?
- A lot of the time, yes. If the failure is in the pan or the drain, the floor comes out and gets rebuilt while the walls stay. We confirm the source before quoting, so you're not paying for a full gut you don't need.
- Will regrouting stop the leak?
- No. Grout isn't waterproof, and a shower was never supposed to depend on it. If water is getting under the tile, the waterproofing layer has failed and needs to be rebuilt.
