Out east is where our biggest projects are. From Westhampton and Quogue through Southampton, Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor to East Hampton, Amagansett and Montauk, the houses are built to a different scale. Primary suites wrapped in book-matched marble, curbless showers with linear drains, a bath for every bedroom in the guest wing, whole floors of large-format porcelain and stone. A lot of it is new construction or a full renovation of a shingle-style house, so the tile goes in on a builder's schedule and has to be right the first time.

Salt air, sand and summer traffic are hard on tile, so material choice and prep matter more here than almost anywhere else we work: sealed stone, bonded waterproofing in every wet area, and hydronic radiant heat set in mud beds for houses that stay open into the winter. Because of the drive, we focus on larger jobs in the Hamptons, like full bathrooms, custom showers and whole-house floors, rather than one-day repairs.
